Reynier Llanes
Artist
Reynier Llanes - Cuban Born 1985 – is a professionally educated artist from Pinar del Rio, Cuba, now residing in Miami, Florida. This masterful landscape and portrait artist uses the mediums of oils and unique uses of Cuban espresso coffee on canvas and archival paper to capture the essence of cross-cultural environments, people, traditions, and belief systems.
Reynier Llanes was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba August 15, 1985 where he lived his early life with his parents and sister. Despite the economic hardships of his country and intrusive nature of the government on its citizens, Reynier availed himself of the opportunity to develop his remarkable talent of oil painting.
Reynier attended the school of art (Instructores de arte) for four years and at the age of 19, he completed his studies in 2004. He used his passion for the arts in performing community services by working with children between the ages of 8 to 12 years old, educating them on the appreciation of the visual arts. Concurrently he also contributed to the community by painting outstanding murals with local artists. The quality of his paintings resulted in his participating in important exhibitions where he gained numerous prizes, nominations and fame which took his paintings as far as Asia and North and South America. In Havana, Reynier studied the great masters of paintings in the art museums of the capital. There he was tutored by one of the country’s most recognized realist artists, Juan Miguel Suarez who taught him how to transform his paintings with more realistic color and techniques.
Despite his growth as a professional visual artist in Cuba, Reynier felt restricted by the day-to-day limitations on art expression imposed by the nation’s government and the resultant constraints on making a living as an artist. In November 2007 Reynier availed himself of an opportunity to leave Cuba and make a heroic journey to the United States of America. He immediately immersed himself in educational opportunities to lean English along with the customs, mores, and legal requirements of this country. He has subsequently become a Naturalized American Citizen of this country.
