Dorothy McCray

Artist

American Born 1915 - 2008 Dorothy McCray has been a professional painter for the past 70 years and is a master of both acrylic and oil paintings along with fine art printmaking. Her painting and printmaking styles range from representational to abstract expressionism.

American artist, Dorothy McCray received her B.A. and M.A. from the State University of Iowa in 1937 and 1939 respectively.  She also holds a MFA degree in printmaking from the California College of Arts and Crafts 1956.  Dorothy McCray taught fine art at Western New Mexico University from 1948 to 1981.  In 1992, Dorothy McCray received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts as a Painter and Printmaker from New Mexico's Governor Bruce King.  Her works have been exhibited and acquired by some of the finest American art museums.
